Kayak tour

discover the natural beauty of “jezero” valley and taste local wines and cuisine. “Jezero” valley is a karst field spanning three administrative regions: the City of Vrgorac, the City of Ploče, and the Municipality of Pojezerje. It is home to Croatia’s largest vineyard, with over a million grapevines planted. This green oasis of Dalmatian karst is sheltered by mountains and hills. In the northwestern part of the field, several springs feed the Matica River, which gently winds through agricultural fields and is rich in endemic wildlife. In the southernmost part, the river disappears into a 2,138-meter-long drainage tunnel, continuing toward the Baćina Lakes and eventually flowing into the Adriatic Sea. Before the tunnel was built, this area was a seasonal lake; today, nearly the entire 28.4 km² of land is cultivated, primarily with vineyards, fruit, and vegetables. Roads along the edges of the field connect larger settlements, including Staševica, Otrić-Seoci, Dusina, Milošići, Kobiljača, Umčani, and Draževitići. Additionally, the Zagreb–Ploče highway runs parallel to the northern edge of the field, providing easy access to this picturesque and fertile region.
